Are you looking for a cleaning job?
There are many cleaning businesses looking for workers, and we are here to help you feel confident in asking the right questions to ensure the cleaning company you choose is the best fit for you.
What training is provided? Even if you have cleaning experience from a previous cleaning job, you want to ensure training is provided. Each company will have its own procedures and thorough training will give you the confidence you need when you are ready to work on your own.
What locations does the company cover and what area will I be working in? Look for a company that is local to where you live, the less time spent on the road driving to appointments, the more money you can make in your cleaning job.
What is the distance between clients? This is a very important question to ask. The longer the distance between the clients, the less money you are able to make in your day. Make sure the clients are assigned in close-proximity to each other to ensure you can earn maximum dollars.
What is the pay rate? Make sure you have a clear understanding of pay rates and payment terms. Most cleaning companies will require you to have an ABN, which is free and easy to apply for.
Are there any incentives and bonuses? It can be difficult to find good, hardworking and honest people in the cleaning industry, so make sure you are working for a company who values and rewards their teams with bonuses for outstanding performance.
Is the equipment and products you need provided? Some companies will either provide all of the equipment and products you need, or they will require you to have your own equipment. Providing your own equipment can be expensive in terms of initial costs and ongoing maintenance, so make sure you check this out with the cleaning company.
And last, but not least, what ongoing support is provided? Whether you are working on your own or in a team, make sure you are supported by an administrative team, that you can contact with any questions, client support, or issues any time of the day or night. You need a team you can trust so you do not have to worry about the logistics other than looking after your cleaning jobs and clients’ homes.
With any and all other factors that are important to you, do not be afraid to ask. For example, if you have a passion for eco-friendly products, you may only want to work with a company that uses eco-friendly products. So whatever else is important, make sure you ask.
Working in the cleaning industry certainly has its benefits, and it is the ultimate work-life balance that gives you the happy job you are aspiring to have.
